In the Eta
Kappa Chapter, we do many things to serve our community. Our ongoing events
include volunteering at the Triangle Reading Service (a radio station
for the visually impaired), volunteering at the NC Library for the Blind
shelving tapes and pulling them off the shelves to be sent out, and collecting
Campbell's® soup can labels and old eyeglasses. We also participate
in many other events as they come up. Favorites in the past have been
judging cheerleading competitions for the Gov. Morehead School for the
Blind and doing vision screenings with the LIONS club.
All
of our members are required to do at least 5 hours of philanthropic work
each semester, though many sisters do much more than that.
The sisters
of Eta Kappa love to participate in other Greek Letter Organization's
philanthropy events. Among other events, we have helped Delta Upsilon
build a library for a local Boys and Girls Club, we have participated
in Sigma Chi's Derby Days (benefiting the Frankie Lemon School), and we
participated in Theta Chi and Alpha Phi Alpha's "Bowling for Babes"
(benefiting March of Dimes and St. Jude's Hospital for Children).
